1. IULM University – Milan:

IULM University was founded in 1968. It stands at the fore in the sphere of academic training for the sectors of Communication and Languages. Teaching staff also includes managers and professionals from various fields, thus fostering close contact with the world of media and communication, professional services, business, public administration and cultural organizations. Teaching is done through lectures, classroom activities and case studies, continuous assessment, internships in Italy and abroad and through international student exchanges so as to reinforce both individual and team-working skills. Students have access to an innovative learning environment, equipped with the latest technologies and to a large library featuring the most updated systems. IULM University has about 70 LLP/Erasmus partner
universities and has defined bilateral agreements with several non-European universities (in Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Russia and the USA). Since 2001, IULM offers a two-year Master in Journalism, the only Italian school of journalism that approaches the subject from two different perspectives. While offering the experience and expertise of IULM University, it also allows students to integrate their academic studies with field experience at Media set multimedia and digital editorial office.
At the end of the Master’s course, students are able to sit for the examination to become a professional journalist. The Master’s is designed to train young journalists capable of working in the different professional and technological environments the job market will offer them: newspapers and magazines, television or radio news and current affairs programs, the Web, blogs and multimedia channels.
IULM University recently participated, among other funded projects, to Tempus Project eMEDia (2013- 2017) and currently to Creative Europe Project “Teaching European History through Cinema (TEHC)” and H2020 Project “Urbinat”.

2. UNIMED:

UNIMED- Mediterranean Universities Union, founded in October 1991, is an association of Universities from Mediterranean basin countries (www.uni-med.net). It counts 103 associated Universities coming from 23 countries of both shores of Mediterranean (data updated to November 2017). UNIMED’s aim is to develop university research and education in the Euro-Mediterranean area in order to contribute to scientific, cultural, social and economic cooperation. The Universities in UNIMED’s network operate in many different fields, and thus UNIMED operates on many different fronts. The image that best represents our association is that of a University without Walls.
UNIMED carries out the following activities in favor of the associated Universities: promotion of the international dimension of universities; encouraging the participation of its members in international projects; planning and fundraising activities: information on call for papers and opportunities offered by international organizations and the European Commission, partnership search, technical assistance, planning, dissemination; promoting mobility in the Euro-Mediterranean region, for students, researchers and academic staff; creation of thematic Subnetworks to foster scientific cooperation within specific fields; organization of meetings, discussions, seminars and roundtables both at a national and international level; training for academic and administrative staff of Universities, particularly for the personnel of International Relations Offices.
Through the many initiatives carried out over two decades, UNIMED has promoted collaboration
between the universities of the Mediterranean, becoming a point of reference of international university cooperation.

UNIMED has a wide experience in EU project participation and management and in the field of Higher Education. UNIMED participates in a number of projects in different programmes (Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, Interreg MED) and is currently coordinating five Erasmus+ CBHE projects: SAGESSE, Amélioration de la Gouvernance dans le système de l’Enseignement Supérieur en Tunisie; OpenMed, Opening up education in South-Mediterranean countries; RESUME, Reseau Méditerranéen pour l'Employabilité; DIREMED, Dialogue Interculturel, REseaux et Mobilité en MEDiterranée; RESCUE, Refugees Education Support in MENA Countries), one Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility, one Erasmus+ SP (inHERE, Higher Education supporting Refugees in Europe).

3. University of Aveiro (UAVR):

Since its beginning, University of Aveiro has transformed itself into one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in the country. UAVR has now around 14000 students distributed by 16 Academic Departments and 4 Polytechnic Schools which work together in an inter-disciplinary manner according to their academic and research affinities.
Created in 1973, the University of Aveiro (UAVR) quickly became one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in Portugal. Now a public foundation under private law, it continues to develop and implement its mission to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education, to generate research and promote cooperation with society. Attended by about 14,000 students on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the UAVR has achieved a significant position amongst higher education institutions in Portugal, being one of the top universities regarding the quality of its infrastructures, the strength of its research and the excellence of its staff.
UAVR is a place for research, where innovative products and solutions are developed to contribute to the advance of science and technology. It is a privileged partner for companies and other national and international organisations with which the University cooperates in numerous projects and for which it provides important services.
During 2016, 282 research and technology transfer projects were active in UAVR. 95 of these projects are/were funded by International and European Programmes, of which 20 by the 7th Framework Programme, 25 by the Horizon 2020 and 21 by the ERASMUS +.
The projects developed by UAVR are developed under 19 research centers, of many different scientific areas, namely environmental and marine; ceramics and composite materials; nanostructures, nanomodelling and nanofabrication; telecommunications; electronics and telematics engineering; mechanical technology and automation; geo-technologies and geo-engineering; cellular biology; organic chemistry of natural products; mathematics and applications; education and behavioral sciences; languages and cultures; technologies and communication sciences; governance, competitiveness and public policy; politics for higher education; music and design. 52% of these research centers have been classified as very good, excellent or exceptional in the last evaluation promoted by the National Foundation for Science.

4. Universidad de Granada (UGR):

As a classical university (1531) with around 56,000 students, 3,600 lecturers, 1,900 technical staff, the UGR offers a wide range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Every year over 4,800 international students choose the UGR to take full study programmes or via the approximately 800 exchange agreements in which the UGR is involved. The UGR is the leading European university in number of Erasmus students received, and in 2007, received the Erasmus Gold Star Award in recognition of its contribution to the programme. Additionally, the UGR is a full member of numerous international networks such as the Coimbra Group, UNIMED, EUA, IAU, EAIE, etc.- Mission and Objectives: As a public higher education institution it is committed not only to quality and excellence in education, learning and research but also to activities targeting the transfer of scientific, technical and artistic knowledge to society, the betterment of society and a sustainable environment. As a modern university with a long standing tradition, the UGR strives for improved and increasing outreach and the promotion of strong links with its local and regional context. Respect for the dignity of individuals, freedom of thought and expression, justice, equality, solidarity and eradication of discrimination are among the main values of the UGR. Due to its long-standing tradition, geographical location and high standards, both in teaching and research, the UGR regards internationalization as one of its strategic aims.- Main Projects / Activities: Its main activities are related to higher education, learning and research in a very broad sense.
Its more than 100 departments carry out high quality research and teaching activities at all levels. Central services for students, research equipment, continuing education, summer schools, language training, transfer of knowledge, work placements, etc. are available for all the members of its academic community. The UGR is involved in a vast number of national and international projects financed through different programmes such as FP7, LLP, Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Erasmus+, H2020, Europe for Citizens.
At this moment, the UGR is participating in >60 EU funded education projects being the coordinator of > 10 of them. The International Relations Office-IRO counts with a specific unit composed of 6 staff members who deal with the management of international education projects in close cooperation with the rest of key units (finance, information, mobility…) within the IRO.

5. Sapienza Università di Roma (UNIROMA 1):

Sapienza University of Rome, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, is one of the oldest universities in the world and the second largest University in Europe, greatly able to manage its outstanding numbers: 111.000 enrolled students, 8.000 of them coming from outside Italy and 1.000 incoming and outgoing exchange students each year,11 faculties which cover any kind of scientific and social area with their 63 departments, more than 4.700 professors and researchers and 4.300administrative and technical staff.
Sapienza offers a vast array of courses: around 260degree programmes at Bachelor and Master level, 80 PhD courses, one to two year long lasting professional courses and Specialization Schools, Master degree programmes entirely taught in English (including a full 6-year long lasting degree in Medicine and Surgery), plus many English-taught single courses in various disciplines.
Sapienza is also one of the few Italian public Universities always ranked in major international rankings, active member of several international networks such as COURSERA, UNICA, UNIMED, the SANTANDER GROUP and many others and therefore plays a fundamental role in the academic international scenario.
Committed to the importance of the internationalization of education and training, to the expertise and know-how sharing, to the collaboration in institutional and capacity building, Sapienza University is engaged, since a long time, in an extensive range of international cooperation projects and actions with almost every geographical area of the world: from Asia to the Balkans, from Australia to the Middle East, from America to the ACP countries.
This long lasting experience has brought Sapienza to an extensive knowledge of the international cooperation that made our University able to develop a wide and now tested range of management and operational skills in the field.

6. University of Tripoli (UOT):

The Faculty of Arts & Media at University of Tripoli was established in the seventies. The study system in the college consists of eight semesters, and the college consists of eight departments:
1. Visual Arts Department
2-Theatre Arts Department
3- Fine Arts Department
4- Music Arts Department
5- Media Arts Department

The Media Department divided into: 1-Press Journalism division 2-Broadcast (Radio and TV) Division 3- Public Relations Division.(534 students divided into: First year 293 Press Journalism 61 Broadcast 55 Public relation 125).
After March 2014,UOT foresee the establishment of the media lab (ML). The idea of ML came as a result of the urgent need for the students of the Faculty of Arts and Media for the practical aspect of their knowledge. The idea of establishing ML was proposed by the Institute for War and Peace and funded by the British Embassy. The lab contains 15 computer and 12-recording device in addition to 15 camera (Video and photo) and control room with sound and image mixer, in addition to computers and all the hardware in the laboratory and devices in the studio room, and there are (Work Station) for editing and working in general. Every student can use 100 hours of training in the process of each school year. From April 2014 to January 2015 ML students produced around 300 production contents between Bulletins, programs, talk shows, reports, features etc.

7. Sirte University (SU):

The university was founded as a branch of the University of Garyounis (now known as the University of Benghazi) in the year 1989. In 1992, it became an autonomous institution and was then known as Al Tahaddi University which was later re-named as Sirte University (SU) in 2010.
Since it gained its autonomous status, the university has been continuously expanding and has become one of well-recognised higher education institutions in Libya. Starting off with a few schools and academic departments, the university has at present 10 different schools on and off-campus and with more than 10000 students.
The university currently employs about 400 full-time teaching staff and 53 are contractual foreign employees from Arab and non-Arab countries. The university also employs 1750 non-academic staff in different departments and offices across the university.
The university is also trying to enhance self-learning and research culture among its students by building a new and comprehensive library with more than 100000 resource materials. The university has also established a Languages Centre in a hope of improving the standards of English language among its students and to provide pre-sessional English courses for students who have awarded scholarships to do their masters and PhD degrees abroad. In addition, another aim of the languages Centre is to teach languages other than English, namely, French, Italian, Spanish and German in the near future, Inside the main campus there also are a Research and Consultation Center which is offering the Consulting Study , Support academic by consulting faculties, Publish the researches in the university Journal.
Moreover, as part of its on-going plan of expansion, the university is currently undertaking major construction projects. One of these projects is to build University City with up-to-date facilities and equipment in order to improve the learning environment for the students which would help them to perform better and achieve higher standards Sirte University is committed to activities targeting the transfer of scientific, technical and creative knowledge to society and the improvement of society and a sustainable environment.
Sirte University as a higher education institution in involved in many international cooperation
programmes. It also engaged in several international agreements (MOU) with different educational universities and other organizations from all over the world. Those agreements and programmes include different areas of activities such as post- graduate studies, student’s exchange , training programmes and capacity building. So managing such projects and agreements are considering the responsibility of the international cooperation office. The international cooperation office (ICO) acts as a window to the university. It tries to reach the internationalisation which every university seeks to achieve. In this connection, the mission of the (ICO) is to support the university locally and internationally through the international agreements and scientific projects in order to achieve its globalisation.
The University commitment to the community and the increasing need for expertise in the emerging economies to develop public policies that meet institutional standards, ICO aims to participate in the cooperation with a partnership of international organizations in expanding the assistance of the social, economic and environmental challenges, On this basis recently Sirte university as some other Libyan universities signed MoU with SMEs and Incubators Unit attached to the Ministry of Economy and Trade , the main purpose of this action is to initiate a branch inside the university Campus to help graduate students to inspire their ideas and help them to start up their business.
The Media Department at Sirte University was established in 2004. The media department is divided into three divisions:
1- Broadcasting (TV and Radio)
2- Press Journalism
3- Public relations
The study programme in the department consists of eight semesters cover the three main areas
mentioned above. The media department train 224 students divided into: 130 students in the
broadcasting, 51 students in the press journalism, and 43 students in public relation studies. The
department also contains ten members of academic staff lecturing in the three different divisions listed above.
Since it was established in 2004, the department doesn’t contain any labs or multimedia centre that can help students to practice and improve their journalistic skills, and the curriculum at the department is mainly taught theoretically.

8. Misurata University (MU):

Misurata University is one of ten state universities in Libya located in Libya's third largest city Misurata. The university provides national and international recognized educational services that equip the members of academic community with competencies and values that will better serve the nation. The university has 11different faculties around the city and we offer more than 60 undergraduate courses. It aims to provide higher education and training quality to its students and staff and prepare them to take a par in modernizing and developing process of the national society and economy. Misurata University also aims to promote by research and other means the advancement of knowledge and applied their suggestions and recommendations to economic, social, cultural, technological problems.
From the targets of the university is to accomplish developments in the fields of science, technology, and arts as well as in the field of business to achieve domestic and international objectives. Develop the tools and methodologies of education and scientific research, including educational publications and translation of valuable books, journals and materials. Establish also laboratories needed for education and research processes. Enhance scientific and cultural links and relationships. Share experiences with other local or international scientific organizations and institutions via sending groups of students and researchers and preparing collaborative researches in different specializations as well as holding domestic and international conference. Intensify encounters with other international languages, especially English Language which is considered as medium of communication of modern knowledge and technology.
In additional, we actively and effectively participate in social development through feasible, practicable and progressive lifelong learning programs.

9. University of Zawia (ZU):

Zawia University was constructed in 1988. This university includes 32 faculties and 29 campuses spread in 9 cities and towns. ZU provides a bachelor programs in Sports, Engineering, Arts, Science, Economics and Political Science, Education, Medical Technology, Dental, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursery, Law and Natural Resources and Information Technology. ZU has (47000) undergraduate students and (1800) postgraduate students, with (3300) faculty members and (3400) non-academic staff, and three general educational hospitals located in three cities (Zawia- Surman- Sabrata). ZU is a member of Arabic, Islamic and African Universities Associations. In addition, different master programmes are provided in Science, Art and
Education, Economics, Law, Engineering.
